AG assures tougher laws against piracy

People caught selling pirated DVDs and music CDs will have to prove that their product is not pirated in the near future.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the government will soon start making changes to the video piracy legislation so that prosecution of pirates becomes more stringent and viable.
He said under the current legislation it is very difficult to apprehend and charge people who are responsible.

South Pacific Recording earlier said that video piracy has forced the closure of all their video libraries.
The Suva City Council has also issued a stern warning for those people who are selling pirated DVD and music CDs on the street to stop otherwise tough action will be taken against them.
