Fiji’s top athletics schools Adi Cakobau School and Jasper Williams High School will for the first time participate in this year's Fiji Schoolgirls Rugby League competition.
The two teams will join 26 other school teams from across Viti Levu. Fiji Secondary School's Rugby League President Ifereimi Naisoro says they are formidable champions in various sporting events and now that they have joined rugby league, they will come with their crowd, supporters, and community. Naisoro says this is a big breakthrough to have these two teams participating in the competition this year.
He further says the news of a reformed schoolgirl's championships and its new sponsor will be announced this Friday at the official launching of the competition. Naisoro says ten west schools and sixteen southeast zone schools have confirmed their participation in the competition this year. The competition kicks off this Saturday 17th February across venues in Suva and Lautoka.
The main quarter-final will be on the 13th of April, the semi-final will be on the 20th of April and the final to be played on the 27th of April.
