A multi-disciplinary outreach team which includes a doctor, nurses, dentist, dietician , health inspectors and a physiotherapist is on a 14-week outreach program.
This week they are based in FSC grounds in Ba.
Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete introduced the remodeling program in Tukuraki Village, Ba last week.
The objective of the program is to inform the community on the new approach that the Ministry is embarking on which is de-centralisation of the health services throughout Fiji and taking the service to the communities.
Sub-Divisional Medical Officer Dr Vineet Chand says the medical team dedicates one week for each zone while other government departments and organizations such as District Officer’s Office, Judicial, Police, Social Welfare, Agriculture, Provincial Office, iTLTB, Red Cross, Pharmacy, RC Manubhai provide services to the hard to reach areas.
The 14-week program will target the zones of Nalawa, Rarawai, Namau, Veisaru, Karavi, Varoko, Vatulaulau, Nailaga, Sorokoba, Nukuloa, Wailailai, Navatu, Moto and Koronubu.
