A 1-month-old girl has received a gift of life after doctors from Queensland, Australia performed heart surgery on her at the Sai Sanjeevani Children's Heart Hospital in Nasese.
Josephine Pau'u, mother of the 1-month-old, says she noticed that her daughter was breathing heavily and asked the nurses to do an x-ray to identify the issue with her daughter.
She says as a first-time mother it was difficult to see her daughter crying in pain and she felt helpless.
Pau'u says her daughter was then referred to the Children’s Heart Hospital, where she was diagnosed with Patent Ductus Arteriosus Ligation heart defect condition.
The mother says the free surgery was done on Monday and she is feeling blessed that she gets to go home today with her daughter.
Pau'u is urging parents to take their children for a heart screening.
