89 youths from Nadi now have new skills to earn a living following a 3-week training organised by the Ministry of Forestry.
The training included learning basic skills in chainsaw operations, nursery training, potting, portable sawmill training and sustainable forest management.
While speaking at the graduation, Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the Government has invested $1 million for training programs under the Ministry of Forestry.
He says this is providing youths with an opportunity to learn about sustainable forest practices as well as skills needed to acquire jobs locally and/or overseas.
Narewa/Nakavu/Namotomoto Youth Coordinator, Asinate Dawai acknowledged the Fijian Government for supporting the youths through such training.
She also commended Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama for providing equal opportunities for all Fijians.
