A 78-year-old woman has got two broken ribs after a man snatched a gold chain from around her neck while she was raking her compound and pushed her into the drain.

The woman’s daughter Sarita Devi says the incident happened last Thursday in Narere, Stage 1.

She says the elderly woman could not understand what had happened to her.

Devi says she took her mother immediately to the Makoi Police Station, where they were told that a medical report was required for such a case.

She further claims when the medical report was given to the police, they refused to register their statement and asked them to come on a later day.

Since then they have been continuously trying to get their statement registered.

Devi says she was then told yesterday that their medical report is now missing.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says the Divisional Police Commander South is looking into the allegations raised by the victim.
