Bus fare top up for Social Welfare recipients will now cover a 3-month travel allowance after the Ministry for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation revised the Bus Fare Allowance Payment schedule.

The Ministry says recipients will receive payments of $75 by the 5th date of every quarter and the next payment will made next Friday.

They say 51,700 individuals are assisted under this scheme.

The Ministry is urging social welfare recipients to use their allowances wisely and ensure that it last 3 months.

If funds are all used up before the end of October, recipients will need to top up their cards at their own expense.

The next $75 payment will be processed in November this year.

The Ministry says their officials with relevant stakeholders will monitor the implementation of the program.
