Good news for the people of the island nation of Vanuatu as 70% of Digicel’s network has been restored.
This was after Category 5 Tropical cyclone Pam devastated the island.
Cyclone Pam struck Vanuatu early last Saturday with 300 kilometer winds per hour, which caused significant damage to communication services on the island.
However since then, Digicel has restored majority of its network, enabling customers to make and receive calls, text messages and emails and access the internet in the capital of Port Vila.
Digicel Asia Pacific CEO, Michael Murphy said a large portion of the network has been restored to the islands of Efate, Santo, Penticost, Malakula, Ambrym, Maewo, Mota Lava, Gaua, Sola, Vanua Lava and parts of the Shepard islands.
