Police have reported that multiple arrests were made over the last 48 hours in the Southern Division, including Wailea Settlement in Vatuwaqa, Tamavua, and Narere for alleged cases of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, ACP Livai Driu, says a woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s were arrested at Wailea Settlement in Vatuqawa after the discovery of white substances believed to be methamphetamine.
ACP Driu says in Tamavua, a man in his 30s was arrested after he was allegedly found with dried leaves and a zip-lock plastic bag containing seeds, all believed to be marijuana.
In Narere, a man in his 30s was arrested following the discovery of several sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
ACP Driu further explains that officers in Suva focused their attention on the carrier stand, where a man in his 40s was arrested after dried leaves, believed to be marijuana, were discovered.
In the Eastern Division, a man in his 50s was arrested in Korovou Town after several bundles of dried leaves, believed to be marijuana, were found.
In the Northern Division, a man in his 20s was arrested following the discovery of zip-lock plastic bags containing white substances believed to be methamphetamine.
Police say all seized substances have been sent for analysis as investigations continue.
