60 farmers from Sabeto have signed contracts with Fiji Argomarketing to supply chillies, kumala, cassava, peanuts, duruka and ginger.

Minister for Agriculture Doctor Mahendra Reddy says there is a need to expand the base of the Agriculture sector to provide the drive for sustained growth.

While officiating at the Fiji AMA contracts signing, Reddy says the Ministry will provide necessary incentives for every farmer who has a quarter acre of land with planting materials, seeds and cuttings at no cost to the farmers.

He adds the ministry is working on establishing seed banks for all crops. These nurseries will supply planting materials for the farmers.
