A 56-year-old man, his 6-year-old son and another man are still admitted in critical condition in Taveuni Hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a road accident along the North Coastal Road in Vacala, Taveuni.
The 56-year-old man’s wife passed away in this tragic accident.
The vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with a truck yesterday.
The vehicle was driven by the 56-year-old man.
The man allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer onto the opposite lane and collided with a 12 wheeler truck.
Police say the victim’s second son who is 18 years old has claimed to have seen his father dozing off while driving before the accident occurred, however, this is still subject to investigation.
The driver of the truck escaped unharmed.
The road death toll currently stands at 55 compared to 65 for the same period last year
