56 people charged with 97 counts of serious crimes in October

56 people were charged with 97 counts of serious crimes last month.

There were 9 offences of murder, 2 cases of attempted murder, 8 cases of aggravated robbery, 15 cases of aggravated burglary, 22 offences of theft , 4 cases of assault causing actual bodily harm , 4 offences of act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, 1 case of arson, 1 case of failure to supply necessaries of life, one offence of money laundering, 26 counts of fraudulent falsification of accounts, 1 case of  making threats at an airport, 1 count of conspiring to commit burglary, 1 count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs  one count of and criminal intimidation.

According to statistics by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, a 62-year-old man was charged with 5 counts of murder and 1 count of attempted murder. 

It is alleged the accused killed 3 adults, 2 children and attempted to murder an 11-month old baby in the Nausori Highlands.

There were two separate incidents where a 34-year-old man and a 40-year-old man were charged with the murder of their 36-year-old and 34-year-old wives.

The DPP's Office says a 35-year-old man and a 36-year-old man were charged with the murder of a 23-year-old man. 

The accused persons allegedly attacked the victim for spilling beer during a drinking party.

There was one incident where a 49-year-old man was charged with the attempted murder of his 27-year old defacto partner.
