55 Fijians will be able to further their studies in Australia with the help from the Australian Government’s Scholarship Awards Programme.
In the pre-departure briefing held at the Australian High Commission today, recipients were urged to build a good communication network between themselves and the other recipients before leaving for Australia.
The Australian Award Scholarship Alumni’s who were present stressed that this network building will be very beneficial when recipients are in Australia where family members will be far away.
19-year-old, Ioane Nawasakailevu who is one of the scholarship recipients will be studying Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of New South Wales.
Nawasakailevu who is originally from Dreketi in Macuata wanted to pursue criminology because of the increase in criminal activities around the country.
He recently graduated from Year 13 at Marist Brothers High School and says he intends to join the Police Force when he returns to combat criminal activities in the country.
Year 13 student Kaki Zong who recently graduated from Yat Sen Secondary School will be studying Bachelor of Business majoring in Financial Planning at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
Zong says she hopes to utilize his studies by promoting financial education and making financial products easily accessible to people from all sorts of life.
The Australian High Commission says the application for the 2020 Australian Award Scholarship will begin on February of 2019 and the Australian Award Scholarship Programme will be able to pay the full cost of studies for each individual recipient.
