70 acres of land will now be developed in Tavakubu, Lautoka which will have 534 residential lots.

100 lots will be ready by September next year and 434 lots will be done by September 2019.

While speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of the Land Development and Housing Subdivision Project, Local Government Minister Praveen Bala highlighted this project will also allow 60 families to have a residential lot each.

He says these families have been tenants on this land and did not have a secure tenure before.

Bala says the government will spend close to $20 million in this project which will assist in addressing the greater demand of housing in the greater Lautoka area.

He says the FijiFirst government is doing its best in providing affordable housing solutions to low and middle income earning families.

Fairdeal Earthmoving Construction Limited will carry out development work at this site.

Bala has also thanked the Housing Authority of Fiji for making this project successful.

Bala also told the people that government has allocated $10 million for first-time homeowners and so far around 1,400 people have taken advantage of this initiative.
