Five police officers were charged with a range of offences including assault causing actual bodily harm, serious assaults and unlawful possession of illicit drugs last month.
This has been revealed by the Fiji Police Force in their monthly crime statistics.
Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew says all officers have been sent on interdiction pending the outcome of their court cases.
Chew has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to ensuring fairness and transparency by holding officers accountable for their actions when they fail to uphold the very laws they enforce.
The Acting Commissioner says the increase in the number of reports is also attributed to increased confidence in reporting following the heightened level of community awareness and outreach programs.
