Suva businesswoman, Riddhi Damodar says it was the most traumatic incident of her life when her home was broken into earlier this week and her family was assaulted.
Damodar says on Monday night, 5 men broke into her home during curfew hours and held her family hostage.
She says one of the men allegedly held her daughter's mouth as she was trying to shout adding that her daughter was having difficulties in breathing.
Damodar adds her father was severely injured as the men also assaulted him.
She says because their gadgets were stolen, they were unable to call the police but her neighbours heard their screams and had contacted police.
Damodar says she is hoping the culprits are caught as people are not safe even in their own homes and something needs to be done about this.
Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says the Southern Division teams are pursuing some leads and the suspects are known to them.
No arrests have been made as yet.
