A total of 440 complaints were received by the Ministry of Lands from their first ever road-show regarding state land leases in the West.
This is according to Permanent Secretary Tevita Boseiwaqa who said amongst the complaints received were those regarding certain leseas who were illegally sub-diving land that they were intended to farm on.
Boseiwaqa further explained that these lessees would bring people to farm on these lands and would then charge them a fee for the use of it.
Boseiwaqa added many of the complaints have been attended while others are in the process of being addressed.
Meanwhile the advice from the Ministry that this tenant type arrangement by certain leseas is illegal and those paying rentals are to stop until the Ministry formalises their tenure.
