After years of relying on water supply from shallow wells, springs and deteriorated water supply systems 4 communities in the Northern Division will now have access to improved water supply systems.
The Japanese Government together with the Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation worked to help better the lives of the people of the four communities to not only have regular water supply for their daily consumption but also for improved sanitation achieved by access to clean water.
They have funded the upgrading of Water Supply Systems for people of Coqeloa Central, Coqeloa 3 settlement, Raibulubulu settlement as well as Naqumu village in Macuata.
The upgraded water supply systems will be handed over to the four communities in the Northern Division today and tomorrow.
The total value of assistance for the project is FJ$177,806.
To date more than 353 projects have been implemented under the Japan Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Programme which amounts to an approximate value of USD23.63m.
