Minister for Education Rosy Akbar says 38,733 students have been assisted through the Tetiary Scholarship and Loans Board Scheme to date, 15,411 students have graduated while 23,322 are currently enrolled in the scheme.
While speaking at the launch of the new TSLB logo and strategic plan for 2020-2024, Akbar says the new logo showcases progress and a Fijian childhood dream of quality tertiary, vocational and technical education given to students in Fiji.
Akbar says the logo also reflects the principle of access and equity for all the 15 provinces of Fiji and symbolizes success, brighter and smarter future of all students.
The Minister says the government has allocated $181 million for tertiary, vocational and technical education in the 2019-2020 national budget.
This includes the Tertiary Education Loans Scheme and the National Toppers Scholarships.
She adds that the new annual average intake for TSLB scheme is 8,000 students now.
Meanwhile, the CEO of TSLB, Bobby Maharaj has thanked all the staff and stakeholders for their support for taking TSLB forward.
Maharaj also thanked the late, Dixon Seeto for his commitment and contribution towards the TSLB.
