$3.6 million paid to striking Vatukoula Mine workers after 3 decades

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka could not contain his emotions as workers involved in the long standing Vatukoula Gold Mine strike received their first batch of payment of $3.6 million today.

Rabuka says the government had a meaningful dialogue with the miners to resolve this issue.

He says today they reflect on the long journey and pain in resolving this issue, and apologised for the long wait they endured, and acknowledging sacrifices of those who stand firm in this fight.
