35,138 students at Year 5 and 7 levels are expected to sit for their Literacy Assessment today, while the Numeracy Assessment will be held tomorrow.
Minister for Education, Dr Mahendra Reddy says LANA is a diagnostic tool that has been helpful to identify the literacy and numeracy skill level of students and thereby intervene in assisting the low performing students to further their skill and knowledge in these two areas.
He says schools then utilize the strategies given by the Ministry to thin out the students that need support and come up with intervention strategies for their improvement.
Reddy has urged all students to prepare well for this Assessment and advised them to evaluate their performance and revisit the necessary concepts once the results are out.
He also called upon all parents to support their children for this important assessment by motivating them to be well prepared.
