The Ministry of Education is awaiting a detailed report regarding an incident that occurred this morning at a school in Suva, where students got sick after a birthday celebration in school.

Minister Rosy Akbar says the students have received medical attention and are in a stable condition.

Their parents were immediately informed of the incident by the school.

Police say 34 students of the primary school in Suva were taken to the hospital today as some of them started vomiting after allegedly eating chocolate.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says their officers were at the school after they were informed about the incident.

Doctors attending to the students have taken the blood samples to ascertain the cause.

Two students have been admitted at the CWM Hospital for further observation.

The Ministry is yet to receive a detailed report from the Head of School.
