$332 million was received in personal remittances by families in Fiji from people overseas in the first five months of this year.
The Reserve Bank of Fiji says the total personal remittances grew by 27.7%.
It says this is contributed mainly by higher inflows from personal transfers, which more than offset the decline in compensation of employees and migrant transfers category.
Meanwhile, tourism earnings in the first quarter of 2021 declined by a significant 99.1% to a total $2.8 million, led by negative contributions from all source markets.
