33-year-old man of Lautoka charged for the alleged murder of taxi driver found in Qalitu

A 33-year-old unemployed man of Vitogo Paipai in Lautoka has been charged for the alleged murder of Donal Sarwan Prasad at Qalitu in Lautoka in December last year.

It was alleged that the victim who is from Varavu in Ba, had informed his family that he was taking a passenger to Qalitu but failed to return, his vehicle was found abandoned in Lautoka on the 2nd of December 2023.

After a search operations and investigations by the Western Division Crime units in Ba and Lautoka, Police managed to arrest the accused who is identified as Revoni Yalayala.

The accused was produced at the Lautoka Magistrate Court and has been charged with one count of robbery with violence and one count of murder.

Yalayala has been remanded in custody and will reappear at the Lautoka Magistrate Court on the 18th of January.
