The Namoli community will benefit as 32 youths have received their Certification in Community Fire and Emergency Response Training conducted by the National Fire.
The training will allow the youths of Namoli to conduct risk assessment and mitigation to ensure safety from fire and other emergency risks.
While officiating at the ceremony, Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Bala says the training is vital as Fiji has been affected by far too many fires in homes and businesses.
Bala says according to NFA data, 84 structural fire incidents have been recorded from January to August this year in comparison to 74 fires in the same period last year.
He says the National Fire Authority is a first-rate organization with dedicated and skilled firefighters who think first about saving lives and serving their fellow Fijians.
Bala also expressed his appreciation to the NFA for creating a mechanism that involves citizens and communities in the work of fire prevention.
He also commended the commitment and hard work of the 32 youths for completing the 2 weeks of training, which is a wonderful way of showing love and concern for friends, families, and neighbors.
