312 cases of forced prostitution have been uncovered by the Sub Committee of the National Coordinating Committee on Children in Fiji.
The Sub Committee consists of Social Welfare, Save the Children, Homes of Hope and the Fiji Police Force.
The Coordinator for Homes of Hope Nanise Rasuaki said out of these 312 cases, they are currently handling 170 cases which relate to Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children.
Rasuaki said all the cases have been reported to police and they are continuously following up on the cases through the National Coordinating Committee on Children.
She said for the 170 cases of forced prostitution they are handling, the youngest is 12-years-old.
Rasuaki added one of the main factors that hinder their work is the culture of silence.
