Great news for 31 families who have been awarded residential lots in Mokosoi, Deuba, after the Housing Authority conducted a barrel draw last Friday that was attended by the Fiji Police Force, the Ministry of Housing, and the staff of the Authority. Housing Authority CEO, Ritesh Singh says the project initially comprised 34 lots with 31 designated for low to medium-income earners and three for medium to high-income earners.
Singh lauded the dedicated efforts of both past and current staff in developing the residential lots in Mokosoi.
He says the Authority received an overwhelming 185 applications through the Housing Authority Online Customer Portal with each application undergoing a thorough screening, selection, and objection process according to the Housing Authority Lot Allocation Policy 2023.
He says from the 185 applicants only 102 applicants provisionally met the criteria which included being first-time homeowners, and having a combined annual household income of $50,000 or below, demonstrating the ability to purchase a lot and build a house, and being over the age of 18.
