The Ministry of Health has confirmed that 3 of the 5 mortuary trays at Levuka Hospital are now in operation while a separate team of technicians departed Suva last night bound for Vunisea Hospital in Kadavu.
They also want to thank the technicians from the Pacific Fishing Company Pte Limited (PAFCO) for repairing the 3 trays in the mortuary as part of a Community Engagement initiative.
The Ministry says the other two 2 trays in the mortuary are currently under assessment by the PAFCO technicians and they are awaiting a report.
The team that went to Kadavu are expected to carry out an assessment of the mortuary at Vunisea Hospital and provide a report to the Ministry when they return this Friday.
The Ministry says the mortuary in Kadavu has not been in operation for a few months due to some technical issues.
