Marijuana plants uprooted in Kadavu.

Three people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the cultivation of marijuana on the second day of Operation Sasamaki in Kadavu.

Police Chief Operations Officer ACP Rusiate Tudravu said a 45-year-old farmer of Solodamu Village, Tavuki, was arrested when dried leaves and seeds believed to be marijuana were found in his possession.

In another incident, a 34-year-old farmer of Nabukelevu-i-ra was arrested after plants believed to be marijuana were found at his farm.

A 48-year-old farmer of Namara Village was also arrested after plants believed to be marijuana were found stacked about 5km away from the village.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old woman has been questioned and released after items found in her possession were alleged to have been bought from money earned from the sale of marijuana.

Tudravu said household items estimated to be worth close to $4,000 were seized from her home in Rakiraki Village, Yale.

Her husband is wanted for arrest following a raid on their farm on Wednesday where 429 plants believed to be marijuana were uprooted.

Tudravu said as Operation Sasamaki continues on the island of Kadavu, concurrent raids are being conducted in other divisions.

A team uprooted 17 plants believed to be marijuana from a farm belonging to a 32-year-old of Sarava settlement, Wainibuku yesterday.

Tudravu said Police also seized parcels of dried leaves believed to be marijuana and the suspect is currently in police custody.
