Three 17-year-old girls, Angeline Rekha, Narieta Leba and Evivi Buka from Ba will play for the Digicel Fiji Women’s team in the OFC Women’s Nations Cup.
Head coach Lisa Cole has selected a mix of regular talent in her 26-member squad including captain Sofi Diyalowai from Labasa, forwards Koleta Likuculacula from Ba and Jotivini Tabua from Labasa.
Meanwhile, Sindhika Shayal, a school teacher from Labasa is looking forward to her first official FIFA-sanctioned match.
Shayal says she has been dreaming of wearing the national jersey and has been playing for the last 13 years for Nadroga, Nadi and Labasa.
Fiji will face Solomon Islands at 7pm tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in their first group match.
The winner of the Nations Cup will qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Off Tournament which will be played in Australia and New Zealand next year.
