285 youths have received the Duke Edinburgh's International Awards following months of training and volunteering.
165 bronze, 61 silver and 59 gold have been given this year during the Duke Edinburgh's International Awards, held at the Fiji National University, Natabua Campus for the Western Division.
While speaking during the event, Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru says the coalition government recognises that for youth in our nation to reach the pinnacle of success and to maintain holistic and sustainable growth, they must channel substantive and consistent effort towards the development of young people, and will continue to provide advocacy programme targeted at creating sustainable livelihood for each young person.
Saukuru says the Award is internationally recognized and is the world's leading youth achievement Award.
He says the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is available to all 14 to 24-year-olds.
The Minister has thanked the 285 youths who are part of this event, and everyone for their never-ending support and encouragement shown towards these students.
