278 villagers of Bua Village today received farming equipment from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The assistance which includes vegetable seeds, forks, spades, watering cans, fertilisers and barbed wire were given to registered youth clubs in Bua.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Bala says the recent tropical cyclones left the agricultural sector in turmoil and many farms were affected.

He says they need an agricultural sector that is ready to bounce back and they need ecological stability that ensures that resources are available for the future generations.

Bala says his Ministry is placing constant emphasis on the importance of sustainable living.

He told the villagers that when they go home, they have to ensure that everyone understands that they are professionals as farming is a profession.

He has asked villagers to plan for success so that they can move from subsistence to a small business and later to a medium business.

Bala says with today’s handover, people in Bua will now be in the perfect position to give back and serve as leaders in their communities.
