The 27-year-old man who allegedly assaulted a Police officer in Lami on New Year's Day has been further remanded in custody by the Suva High Court.
Vetaia Nalagica of Lami appeared before High Court Judge, Justice Dane Tuiqareqare this morning, charged with 2 counts of act with intent to cause serious bodily harm and one count of serious assault.
Nalagica allegedly struck a police officer, who was on duty, twice with a cane knife and fled the scene.
The accused was also resisting arrest but was apprehended three days later.
Justice Tuiqareqare has requested that all documents be presented to Nalagica's lawyer by the 14th of February.
He has also informed Nalagica that he could apply for bail before his next hearing.
The matter has been adjourned to 10am on the 21st of February.
