27 people have been charged and produced in court regarding the unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs in the Navosa highlands.

Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho says that to date close to 44,000 marijuana plants have been found during Operation Cavuraka.

Qiliho says that they have had help from a few districts in the Navosa province including Navatusila, Nasikawa, Namataku and Bemana.

He says as the police and RFMF team comb the rugged terrain in search of more farms, another team is conducting community outreach programs through the Duavata Community Policing initiative.

Qiliho adds that in the last 24 hours, 3 men were arrested in the Eastern Division as they were found in possession of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

He says that they will continue with the current momentum of eradicating drugs in whatever form from our society.
