26-year-old Olympian Venice Traill who recalls taking her nephew to a self-defence club where she fell in love with the sport of taekwondo, has now created history by being the first female from taekwondo Fiji to take part in the Paris Olympics.
She says she did not know that taekwondo was an Olympic sport and upon advice that it is, she worked hard to represent Fiji in the sport.
Traill who works at a call centre and is also pursuing her studies at the University of the South Pacific, doing her double major has set her focus on doing her best for her country.
She was selected after the Oceania Olympic Qualifiers in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
Traill adds she is focusing on what she can control for now.
The Olympics taekwondo competition begins on the 7th of next month.
