There are now 24 confirmed cases of measles and the latest victim is a 3 month old baby from Naikorokoro Village in Lami.
The baby is currently admitted in isolation at the CWM Hospital.
The Ministry of Health says all earlier confirmed patients have recovered or are recovering well at home.
The Ministry says the 24 cases are from the following areas in the Central Division:
12 cases from the Serua/Namosi Subdivision (Wailali, Wainadoi, Navunikabi, and Makosoi Deuba)
5 cases from Suva Subdivision (Samabula, Vatuwaqa, Tacirua, Wailekutu and Naikorokoro Village in Lami).
3 cases from Rewa Subdivision (Koronivia, Nasilai Village Nakelo, Davuilevu).
4 cases from Naitasiri Subdivision (Saumakia Village)
The Ministry adds that non-essential travel to Naikorokoro Village in Lami, Saumakia Village in Naitasiri, Serua/Namosi, and Nasilai Village in Nakelo Rewa is strongly discouraged.
The Ministry of Health intends to conclude the mass measles vaccination campaign by this afternoon.
