207 traffic infringement notices have been issued for speeding between 6am yesterday morning to 6am this morning.

A 28-year-old woman is admitted at the Tavua Hospital after the vehicle she was travelling in veered off the road.

Police say the victim was one of the three passengers in a car driven by a 26-year-old farmer of Lololevu, Tavua.

It is alleged that when they approached Nakavika in Tavua, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road.

In another incident a 52-year-old man has been arrested for drunk driving in Lautoka.

Police say traffic officers will be out in numbers , but the onus is on drivers to take all necessary safety precautionary measures to avoid accidents.

They add accidents occur when road safety is taken lightly, when we turn a blind eye to road rules and laws, and when complacency sets in.
