203 people were charged with a total of 461 counts of serious sexual offences in 2021.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions confirms that the youngest accused person was a 11-year-old boy while the youngest victim was a 3-year-old girl.
Of the 196 accused persons, 40 were juveniles and four were police officers.
There were 331 rape cases, 8 attempted rape cases, 5 cases of abduction with intent to commit rape, 1 case of abduction of a young person, 5 cases of aiding and abetting rape, 1 case of criminal trespass with intent to commit rape, 10 cases of indecent assault, 7 defilement cases and 93 sexual assault cases.
There were 196 victims of whom 136 victims were under the age of 18 years.
Of the 196 victims, 182 were female and 14 were male victims.
There were 202 accused persons who were male while one accused person was a female.
There were 82 offences that occurred in domestic relationships or where the accused was known to the victims.
36 cases were withdrawn.
