Many have seen the growth of rugby in this nation and they can tell that the progress through the development of our women's competitions is such a huge plus to Fiji rugby.
Fiji Rugby Operations Manager Sale Sorovaki stated this during the opening of the Provincial 7s tournament this morning.
Sorovaki says rugby has always been a male dominated sport, but seeing the large number of women and girls turning out today for this 2023 UN Women Provincial 7s tournament, it makes a different.
Sorovaki says this tournament marks the Women in Rugby month and players will need to get their game together to get selected.
While acknowledging the 10 teams that are present this morning, the tournament has reached its 4th game with Lautoka defeating Nadi 10-0, Rewa was thrashed by Suva 1 20-5 and Suva 2 beating Nadi 12-5.
Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s team defeated France in the opener of day 2 of the Fiji Airways Mini 7s tournament this morning.
The games are currently held at Albert Park.
