2019 Fiji Fashion Week closes with an array of exquisite designs

The 2019 Fiji Fashion Week closed with beaming colors and an array of exquisite designs showcased by 13 designers.

People were in awe of the elegant evening gowns, body suits, sarongs and bridal couture that were displayed on the runway.

Local designer, Epeli Tuibeqa stole the show with his KuiViti tapa designed bridal wear.

Tuibeqa who is also a performer says that he does not limit his creativity and encourages other young artists to try new things that will get them out of their comfort zone.

Samoan designers, Hans Alvis’ collection, Tahiano was the show stopper as models graced the runway with elegant evening gowns.

Fiji Fashion Week Director, Ellen-Whippy Knight acknowledged, 8 Mountains designer, Moira Solvalu and Guilty by Samal Singh who celebrated 10 years at the Fiji Fashion Week.

Meanwhile, Young designer, Sainimili Talemaibau of Gospel High School won the Rising Star Award.

In the Student Designer of the Year Award, second runner up was awarded to Tropical Traditional Collection by Niko Ratumaimuri of Marist Brother High School

while first runner up was awarded to Kilanea Collection by Amelia and Teresia Waqairamasi of Saint Joseph’s High School.

International Secondary School student, Sara Du, was awarded the Student Designer of the Year at the Fiji Fashion Week Student Designer Show.

Emerging designer, Kess Baleirara who first took up fashion designing in 2014 was awarded a scholarship by Coca-Cola and Fiji Fashion Foundation to study certificate or diploma in Fashion in Sydney.
