Twenty police officers from around the country are currently attending a two-week World Rugby accredited workshop at the Police Academy in Nasova.
The workshop is being facilitated by the Fiji Rugby Union which is designed to up skill future rugby coaches.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu says the opportunity provided by the FRU should not be taken lightly by their officers considering the Force’s focus on the strengthening proactive policing initiatives.
Tudravu says the successful completion of this course will not only contribute to their community policing initiative but to the development of youths in Fiji.
He says police officers were already impacting the local Provincial rugby scene where at one point of the tournament police officers were captaining six of the eight teams that were participating.
Following the two-week course, officers will receive World Rugby accredited certificate in Level 2 coaching, First Aid and Strength and Conditioning.
The workshop will end next Friday.
