Movement restrictions have been imposed for the villagers of Waivunia and Natua as the Health Ministry has confirmed 6 new cases in Waivunia Village in Nasavusavu and Natua Village in Wailevu West.
The Cakaudrove Sub-Divisional Outbreak Response team in collaboration with the Fiji Police Force, Cakaudrove Provincial Council and NGO’s have implemented containment measures to prevent further outbreak in these two villages.
Other containment measures include isolation and management of positive cases, fever screening at the village checkpoint which is manned at all times, distribution of WASH Kits, no social gathering, contact tracing, blood sampling for primary contacts and testing of water samples as both villages have their own untreated water supplies.
Some symptoms of typhoid include high temperature, head ache, general aches and pains, and constipation.
