Two police officers have been charged with allegedly raping a minor in Savusavu earlier this month.
Police say following the conduct of investigation by officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions was consulted for the sanctioning of charges.
The two have been charged with one count of rape each and will appear in the Savusavu Magistrates Court today.
Police say they are committed to ensuring the thorough conduct of investigations against police officers upon receipt of official complaints.
They confirm due processes in the conduct of investigation as well as independent review and sanctioning of charges is sought from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to ensure transparency.
