The issue of overcrowding will be a thing of the past for the students of Chauhan Memorial School in Veisari after two new classrooms worth $35,500 was opened today.
School’s Management Board President, Vijendra Prakash said they have saved the funds from the government school grant and used it to build the two new classrooms.
He said they need two more teachers and a quarters as there is no one at the school compound after 4pm.
Prakash said due to this, there have been many burglaries.
Education Minister, Dr Mahendra Reddy told the Management that a new teacher will be sent to the school tomorrow while the other teacher will be sent next week.
Dr Reddy said they will provide support to ensure that there is a quarters built by the end of this year.
He said they have made the operating grants flexible which can now also be used for capital construction.
Dr Reddy said they are also providing small grants to schools for capital construction, expansion and renovation work.
He said that from now onwards, the government will assist in any damages caused to the infrastructure just like they are doing for Cyclone Winston.
