Two men from Samabula who allegedly attempted to import 9.755kg of methamphetamine in the country have been released on bail by Suva Magistrate Jeremaia Savou.
Jone Rokomatua and Esala Vakarua have been jointly charged with one count of attempted unlawful importation of illicit drugs.
They have been released on strict bail conditions and ordered to surrender their travel documents.
The case will be called again on 26th October.
Police say the arrest was the result of a successful joint operation between Fijian and international law enforcement partners.
The two were arrested at the Post Fiji outlet in Suva after allegedly signing for a consignment that had been intercepted by international law enforcement, containing methamphetamine last month.
Fijian law enforcement were informed of the discovery and a joint controlled delivery was launched involving the Fiji Police Force, Fiji Revenue Customs Service and Post Fiji Limited and Fiji's international law enforcement partners.
On Friday 3rd September 2021, officers from the Narcotics Bureau arrested the two accused persons in Suva.
