Two government vessels will be departing Marine wharf for rehabilitation work on Qamea Island in Taveuni this afternoon.

This will include machine, materials and personnel who will help rebuild houses and health facilities that were damaged due to landslides on the island.

Two immediate projects the government will focus on is the rebuilding of the Dreketi health Centre which was thrown out to sea due to a landslide.

The Dreketi Primary School was also totally damaged in the incident along with the Dreketi Community Hall.

The Ministry of Health confirmed on Wednesday that emergency and medical services are still running smoothly on Qamea Island despite damage to the health centre.
