19-year-old man given a suspended sentence for having sex with his under-aged cousin

A 19-year-old man has been given a suspended sentence for having sex with his under-aged cousin in August last year.

The girl was 13-years-old when the incident took place in the compound of a school in the Eastern Division.

The man had pleaded guilty to defilement.

High Court Judge Justice Vinsent Perera sentenced the man to 2 years, 7 months and 25 days.

Justice Perera has suspended the sentence for a period of 3 years.
