$1.7 million given by Govt to assist Team Fiji for Commonwealth Games

The government has given $1.7 million to assist Team Fiji’s preparations for the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast next month.

This was revealed by Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou in parliament today while responding to a question by Opposition MP Ratu Suliano Matanitobua on the nature of assistance the government is providing for Team Fiji to prepare for the Commonwealth Games.

Tuitubou says 96 athletes and 45 officials will be representing Fiji at the Commonwealth Games.

The final teams for the Commonwealth Games are expected to be announced next Wednesday.
