The Fiji Sports Council will introduce another facility that will expand its inventory to include an international volleyball and netball court at the Vodafone Arena.
CEO, Litiana Loabuka says the opening of the Vodafone Arena will be in August and the new extension will have permanent seating for 2,350 spectators and there are also new retractable bleachers to cater for another 834.

Loabuka says they have also upgraded the Vodafone Arena, and the total cost of the project including the extended courts, is worth $16.7 million.
She also says initially scheduled to open in February this year, there was a shortage of building materials of a suitable standard that delayed completion.
She says in order to continue to provide sporting facilities that are a of a world class standard, the Fiji Sports Council has to ensure a consistent maintenance process and adherence to the usage policies..
Loabuka also says to ensure longevity of the Sports Council’s properties, they have a property management team and they spend about $350,000 per quarter on maintenance.
The renovation project is being carried out by contractor Yan Jian, from the People’s Republic of China.
