Despite facing the effects of COVID-19, Newworld kept all of their staff on full pay and is now looking at employing 160 more people through Government’s Stronger Together Job Support Scheme.
Head of Human Resources and Compliance Kellie Hart says they also have a new store opening in the new year and they will look at employing another 40 people.
Hart says even with COVID-19 they have not reduced their staff, their pay or their hours, adding they made a conscious decision to maintain their front-line.
She further says they currently employ 1068 people.
Hart adds they will start recruiting the 160 staff from tomorrow as they were waiting for the official announcement of the scheme.
Hart says they are looking at hiring people for the long term.
